


DOMESTIC/VIRTUAL ELECTIVES
Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, New Town, North Dakota

4-week elective focused on providing culturally appropriate pediatric care to children and families of the Three Affiliated Tribes (the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Native American people).
-
The elective includes primary and preventative health care services to a population with poor access to child health services
-
Partnership with health facilities on the reservation including Elbowoods Memorial Health Center, Parshall Field Clinic, White Shield Field Clinic; residents may also provide health education at the other affiliated field clinics at Twin Buttes and Mandaree.

Working collaboratively with ​programs at Elbowoods and within the local community such as Family Preservation and Social Services, Behavioral Health, School Health Services, Public Health Program, and Healthy Futures Diabetes Clinic

Pandemic Elective

4 week virtual elective designed to better understand the history and evolution of pandemics
-
Increase exposure to and discuss ethical dilemmas that impact patient care, healthcare, and public health
-
Explore social determinants of health and health disparities as it relates to the current COVID pandemic
-
Flipped Classroom Sessions with International and Domestic Sites​

Virtual Rounds with Site Preceptor at Thikka Hospital

Collaborative Case Presentations with experts from CCMC and International/Domestic Sites

Daily debriefs to discuss independent learning material and flipped classroom sessions​
